Melissa & Ryan

Melissa and Ryan were married at the start of June, on a crisp winter’s day. That said, the sun was shining happily for them, despite some showers earlier in the morning. It was chilly, but a magical day.

I met Mel and Ryan for the first time just a few days before their wedding. They flew in from interstate to be married. They are both warm, lovely people and had a very simple vision for their day: to make it an intimate reunion for their family and friends, many of whom had travelled from all over Australia to be there. They planned the wedding in just two months, after their plans for a November wedding changed. They pulled it off perfectly, with innumerable personal touches. They had no bridal party but instead surrounded themselves by close friends and family, who helped them with ceremony readings and witnessing their marriage certificate signing. Mel’s dress was bought not from a bridal shop, but a little boutique store – I couldn’t imagine anything more perfect for her! Her earrings were actual vintage pieces; she told me how she had visited many antique stores to find just the right pair.

And their reception – well, the only word is spectacular. Everything was so beautifully thought-out; they sourced the etched antique candle holders from different antique shops; their ‘treasure chest’ was a gorgeous old suitcase; and their flowers looked like they had been plucked from a field. It was held in the Long Room at Chateau Tanunda, and it was the second time I have had the pleasure of photographing a wedding there in just a couple of months.

I loved every minute of celebrating Mel and Ryan’s wedding – it was a little slice of magic. Thanks so much, Mel and Ryan, and all the best for a beautiful future together.
