Lora & Sam

Here is my last wedding post that will be published in 2010. I am getting ready to take a short break over Christmas, but of course will be back in January to share my last three weddings of 2010 with you!

Lora and Sam were married a couple of weekends ago on that very strange, searingly hot weekend. We had experienced unseasonably cold weather in the lead-up to the day, but by Saturday the heat was well and truly upon us. Lora and Sam took it all in their stride and were so excited to be married that it really didn’t matter at all!

I vividly remember the first time I heard from Lora, via e-mail, while she and Sam were living and working in London. I sensed then that it was going to be a very special wedding, and I was not wrong. I was incredibly excited about the day and developed a great rapport with Lora in the time leading up to the wedding. What I loved most was her excitement and enthusiasm about the photography, and her confidence and faith in me both artistically and personally.

Anyway, on to the day: it was really a special, magical day. Lora and Sam have the most beautiful harmony together and I loved witnessing and capturing that. Their friends and family were incredibly lovely and a close-knit group, and being there for the speeches was an amazing experience – from Lora’s Mum’s very heartfelt poetry reading (“Daughter of Mine” nearly brought me to tears!) to groomsman’s Greg hilarious…shall we say…performance. It was really a day and evening to remember and I am beyond grateful to have been a part of it. Hugest congratulations to Lora and Sam – and thank you – for welcoming me and allowing me to share it all.

Now for some photos:

Sock-pulling-on and shoe-attaching was quite a comical sequence to witness at the boy’s house:

No actual dramas here – just a very animated discussion! Love this photo of Lora’s lovely grandfather and her Mum.

I had no idea what the “Kath & Kim kiss” was, so Lora and Sam offered to demonstrate…
